There are great organizations in this country that directly and indirectly prepare our youth for greatness. Ted Rollins had the privilege of interacting with teachers from ‘Teach for America’ at one of their events this week in San Francisco. These teachers are truly making a difference for our upcoming generations. TFA is modeled after the Peace Corps in a way, matching qualified, outstanding teachers from across the country with low-income community schools for a two-year period. This program has been shown to work well. Check out their site and accomplishments at TeachForAmerica.org.

“Campus Crest was honored to be a sponsor of this event and I was even more honored to meet some talented teachers,” said Mr. Ted Rollins.

Relay For Life

“Relay for Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.” Team Valdosta decided to participate in the event as part of their outreach programming. They raised money prior to the event in their leasing trailers with small donations and then later at the event. VSU held the event on the “Front Lawn” with almost 900 to 1000 students and members of the community participating. Team Valdosta’s booth was the “most popular” with “make a wish cupcakes” and “Dance Central” on their X-Box Kinect. This was a great chance for the team to build a good reputation with the surrounding community and to help an amazing cause!

“Bark” For Life

“Bark” For Life was a smaller event that stemmed from Relay For Life. Team Valdosta wanted to partner on this event in order to continue their outreach and advertise their pet friendly complex. They even had a booth where pet owners could create their furry friend an Ice Cream Sundae (Puppy ice cream from Publix)!
